Organelle
In the human body, an organelle is something located inside the cell with a specialized function/job so the cell operates properly. These definitions are showing what each of cell organelles functions are and which cell they belong to.
Cell membrane: A thin layer of fat and protein that surrounds the cell , allowing some substances to pass into the cell and blocking others. Located in only the plant cell. Nucleus: The commanding organelle. It helps control eating, movement and reproduction. Located in both plant and animal cell. Mitochondria: Creates energy for the cell to use for all activities (respiration). They contain their own DNA. Located in both the plant and animal cell. Cell Wall: Protects and surrounds the cell allowing materials to come and go (oxygen, C2O). Thin outer layer of an animal cell and inner layer of a plant cell. Cytoplasm: A clear, thick, jelly-like material that supports and protects the cell organelle. Located in the plant and animal cell. Vacuole: Stores food, water and waste. Located in both the plant and animal cell. They are small in the animal cell and big in the plant cell. Chloroplast: Uses energy from the sun to make food for the plant (photosynthesis). Only located in the plant cell. Golgi Apparatus: Responsible for taking the protein that are being created by the ribosomes and making them bigger and better. Located in only the plant cell. Ribosomes: The protein builders of the cell. Located in both the animal and plant cell. |
